Wow, here’s one very delicious mushroom recipe. Look at the image. Can’t you just feel the juice squirting out from the fat mushrooms?
This recipe is called Braised Mushrooms Deluxe and it is a very common dish during Chinese New Year. Why only Chinese New Year? Because mushrooms are considered “luxury” and the Chinese will only normally bring out all the good and expensive stuff during Chinese New Year.
However, mushrooms are common now and we do not have to wait for importers to import mushrooms only to celebrate Chinese New Year, you know? Try this recipe out and let me know how you like it. Oh yes, it serves four to five persons.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons cooking oil
3 slices young ginger
2 cloves garlic, sliced
150g abalone mushrooms
150g button mushrooms
150g straw mushrooms
8 caps shiitake mushrooms, halved
200g lettuce, blanched
1 sprig parsley
Ingredients A - blend together
1 tablespoon Gourmet Stock Chicken & Scallop
1 tablespoon cornflour
1 teaspoon sesame oil
200ml water
Preparation:
1. Heat oil, fry ginger and garlic till fragrant.
2. Add all the mushrooms, stir-fry for two minutes.
3. Pour in Ingredients A, simmer till sauce thickens.
4. Spoon mushrooms on blanched lettuce and garnish with parsley.
5. Serve hot.
